Day 1 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Travel to Bukavu from Beiga & Virunga national parks

When you arrive at the international airport in Kigali on the first day of your 6-day trip through the national parks of Kahuzi Beiga and the Virunga with opportunities for gorilla trekking and Nyiragongo Hike, your safari driver will greet you and give you an overview of the trip before you set out from Kigali for Kahuzi Beiga National Park in Bukavu. To take advantage of all the intriguing activities on this first day, it is advisable that you come as early as possible; otherwise, you should spend the night in Kigali the day before the safari. When you travel to Bukavu, you will eat lunch along the way, and if time permits, you may visit the palace and museum.

Gorilla trekking: On day 4 of your 6-day Congo safari, which includes a hike up Nyiragongo and gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Beiga National Park, pack plenty of snacks and water and get ready for a transfer to the park headquarters, where you’ll receive a briefing on gorillas before beginning your fascinating and exciting gorilla trekking safari. You will only be able to spend up to an hour with the gorillas after your initial encounter before being transported back to your lodge for supper and a restful night’s sleep.

Day 5 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park: Hike mount Nyiragongo (Ascend)

A thrilling Mount Nyiragongo hike begins at around 10:00 a.m. local time on day five of a six-day Congo safari, which includes gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga National Park and Nyiragongo Hike. After breakfast in the morning, check out of the lodge and be transported to Kibati Ranger Post in time to meet other hikers and receive a briefing. As you won’t be returning to the resort once you’ve descended Nyiragongo, get a porter to help you with any more luggage. It takes 4-6 hours to trek to the peak of Nyiragongo.

Day 6 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park: Descend Mount Nyiragongo & Departures

On the sixth day of a six-day safari in the Congo that included hiking Mount Nyiragongo and going gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga National Park, have your breakfast at the peak of Mount Nyiragongo and meet other hikers to begin descending at 6:00am. You will be taken back to the Congo Rwanda border under heavy security after arriving at the Kibati ranger station by 10:30 am, where you will meet your driver for the trip to Kigali for departures.
