Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National park in Ruhengeri
On the first day of the four-day Rwanda Karisimbi volcanic hiking safari and Lake Kivu trip, be prepared for a hotel or airport pickup before traveling to the Volcanoes national park, which is home to critically endangered mountain gorillas and the Volcanic mountains. When you get to the park, you’ll check into the hotel that has been prepared for you, eat, and if you have time, do a cultural tour in the evening.
Day 2: Hike Karisimbi up to 3700m
Have your breakfast at the lodge on Day 2 of your 4-day Rwandan hike (ascent) of Karisimbi. Get everything you’ll need for your Karisimbi hiking experience, and then be transported to the Mount Karisimbi hiking safari starting point where you’ll be given instructions on what to do and not do while trekking. After being able to hire a porter, you may start hiking up several pathways until you reach an elevation of 3700 meters, where you can set up camp for supper and the night.
Day 3: Hike Karisimbi from 3700m to the top & descend back, transfer to Lake Kivu
On the morning of the third of four days, enjoy your breakfast before returning and traveling to Lake Kivu. The finest way to unwind your body after a strenuous climb in Karisimbi is to do this. Go on a boat tour, go swimming, go on a nature walk, etc. After seeing Lake Kivu, enjoy lunch before being driven to Kigali to catch your flight.
