7 days Rwanda primates and Dian Fossey hiking safari is an adventurous safari which takes you to two primate national parks that is Volcanoes national park which is a home to mountain gorillas and golden monkey and then the Dian Fossey grave then the Nyungwe forest national park which is a home to 13 primates.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER TO THE VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
After morning breakfast, the safari guide will pick you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will embark on the journey to the volcanoes. You will have a city tour where you will visit the genocide memorial, kimironko market among others. After the city tour, you will proceed to the volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri where you will check into your lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 2; MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREKKING
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas with the help of the park ranger. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them play, hunt, feed and breastfeed. The trekking takes 30 minutes to 7 hours to locate the gorilla family. After the trekking, you will head to the park headquarters and have your packed lunch and proceed to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 3; GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING AND TWIN LAKES VISIT

Early in the morning after having breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter into the forest in search of the golden monkey species. The trekking takes 2 to 5 hours and once they are located, you will spend an hour with the golden monkeys and take photos and record memories. After, you will head back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will have a visit to the twin lakes of Burela and Ruhondo where you will watch various bird species as well as some mammals that come to the lake to take water. After the visit, you will return back to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 4; HIKE DIAN FOSSEYS TOMB AND TRANSFER TO GISENYI
After morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the parks headquarters for a briefing about Dian fosseys life style and death. After the briefing, you will start to hike mount karisimbi since Dian Fosseys grave is in-between mount karisimbi and mount bisoke at karisoke research center. The grave is just next to her favorite gorillas which was murdered by the poachers. After, you will descend back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and head to gisenyi where you will spend the evening at the shores of lake kivu as you enjoy the cool breathe and the amazing flora species. After, you will head to your lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 5; TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
You will have a relaxed breakfast and check out of the lodge and have a city tour in gisenyi where you will visit the genocide memorial sites, markets, shops among others. After you will embark on the boat cruise and cross over to nyungwe forest which is a home to 13 primate species found on the opposite side of Lake Kivu. On arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 6; CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND CANOPY WALK
You will have an early morning breakfast and head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the chimpanzees. On locating the chimpanzees, you will spend an hour with the chimpanzees as you watch their behaviors and take pictures. After, you will head back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go for a canopy walk within Nyungwe forest which is known to be the best canopy walks in the whole of east Africa. The canopy walk stretches to 150m and it offers a lot of encounters of different flora and fauna species. After the walk, you will return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 7; TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
After your morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and start on the journey to Kigali with enroute lunch. On arrival in Kigali you will be dropped off at your preferred hotel or at the international airport for your flight back home.
