11 days Kahuzi biega Virunga and Akagera Safari is an amazing safari in Rwanda and democratic republic of Congo. The safari will give you a chance to explore Rwanda in the volcanoes national park the home of mountain gorillas and kahuzi beiga national park a home to the lowland gorillas in Congo.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; ARRIVAL IN KIGALI
On arrival, a safari representative will pick you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will head to Kigali for a city tour and later have lunch. After lunch, you will head to your hotel for a refreshment, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; TRANSFER TO BUKAVU
In the morning after breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive southwards to Cyangugu border and then head to Bukavu in Congo. While on the journey, you will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, king’s palace in Nyanza and then have lunch. After lunch, you will proceed to bukavu and on arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and preparation for the next day activities.
DAY 3; GORILLA TREKKING IN KAHUZI BIEGA
In the early morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas with the help of the park guides. Once the lowland gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch their behaviors as well as take photos and record moments. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for late lunch and wait for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 4; TRANSFER TO GOMA
After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Goma which takes 3 to 4 hours. On arrival, you will be transferred to your lodge for a refreshment and relaxation, later in the evening, you will have a city tour in Goma and after return back to the lodge for dinner and preparation for the next day activities.
DAY 5; TRANSFER TO VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast in the morning, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to virunga national park which is a home to mount nyiragongo as well as the endangered mountain gorillas. On arrival, you will be transferred to your lodge for lunch and a refreshment. Later in the evening, you can participate in a nature walk and bird watching in kibumba village and after you will return to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 6; VIRUNGA GORILLA TREKKING IN CONGO
Early in the morning, you will have breakfast and be transferred to kibumba tented camp for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with the gorillas as you watch them carry out their day to day activities. After the trekking you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 7; MOUNT NYIRAGONGO HIKE
In the morning after breakfast, you will report to bukima and start your mount Nyiragongo hike where you will spot amazing views of the world’s largest lava lake with the lava boiling underneath the earth’s crust, rumbling and earthquake. On arrival at the peak, you will relax and camp there the whole night.
DAY 8; DESCEND NYIRAGONGO AND TRANSFER TO GISENYI
After morning breakfast, you will descend nyiragongo and once at the bottom, you will be transferred back to goma and be dropped off at the Grande barrier for border crossing and head to gisenyi. On arrival, you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 9; TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK
In the morning after breakfast, you will take part in the Kigali city tour where you will visit kimironko market, Kigali genocide memorial museum and many more with enroute lunch. After lunch, you will be transferred to Akagera national park and on arrival, you will head to your lodge for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 10; MORNING GAME DRIVE AND EVENING BOAT CRUISE
Early in the morning after having your breakfast, you will be transferred to Akagera national park where you will participate in the morning game drive where you will spot a number of wildlife species such as impalas, zebras, buffalos, rhinos among others as they are grazing within the plains. You will as well spot predators within the park such as leopards, lions and hyenas as they are catching prey in the morning. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go for an evening boat cruise where you will spot a number of water birds, animals such as giraffes, lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos, oribi, and cape bushbuck among others. After the boat cruise you will return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 11; MORNING GAME DRIVE AND TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
In the morning after breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and go for a morning game drive within the akagera national park where you will spot animals such as lions and leopards trying to catch their prey, buffalos, zebras, topis, impalas among others. After the game drive, you will embark on the journey back to Kigali with enroute lunch. On arrival you will be dropped off at the Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
