5 days Congo Rwanda primates safari is a combined Rwanda and Congo safari which takes you to the virunga national park where you will spend an hour with the mountain gorillas then to Rwanda’s volcanoes national park where you will trek the golden monkeys.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER FROM KIGALI TO CONGO
Early in the morning after having breakfast, the safari guide will pick you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will start the journey to Congo with enroute lunch via Grande barrier in Goma where you will be cleared by virunga national park officials and obtain the gorilla trekking permit. Then after you will be transferred to your lodge for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; GORILLA TREKKING IN VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
After the morning breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters at Bukima police post for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest with the help of the park ranger and search for the mountain gorillas. The trekking takes 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with the gorillas as you take photos as well as watch different members of the gorilla family. After, you will return to the park headquarters and have your packed lunch and then return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and night stay
DAY 3; TRANSFER TO RWANDA AND HEAD TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
After morning breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and head to Grand barrier border where you will exit Congo, get a new Rwanda visa and then start on the journey to kiningi with enroute lunch. On arrival in kiningi, you will continue to volcanoes national park and get the golden monkey trekking permit and then check into the lodge for dinner and have a night stay.
DAY 4; GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING IN THE VOLCANOES
You will have an early morning breakfast and head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will embark on the move into the forest in search of the golden monkeys. The trek takes 30 minutes to 4 hours or a full day searching for the golden monkeys. Once they are spotted you will spend an hour with them as you take photos and record moments. After you will head back to the lodge for a relaxation, then later in the evening go for a cultural visit to Ibyiwacu cultural village. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 5; TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
After the morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Kigali city. Depending on your departures, you will have lunch and have a city tour then be dropped off at the international airport for your flight back home.
