Boat Cruise In Lake Mburo National Park : Lake Mburo national park is one of the smallest national parks in Uganda located in the western region in kiruhura district. The park has an area cover of 260 square kilometers and was gazette in 1933 as a controlled hunting area but later upgraded to a game reserve in 1963 and thus the name lake mburo. The national park is a home to wildlife species such as giraffes, bushbucks, elands, reedbucks, topi, zebras, waterbucks, buffaloes, impalas, warthogs, duikers and as well 350 recorded bird species such as the rare shoebill stork.

Boat cruise is an amazing and exciting activity that one shouldn’t miss while on a safari in Lake Mburo national park. This is so because Lake Mburo is surrounded by a unique and big unique water system thus making it a must for its existence. The national park has got aquatic animals which makes the boat cruise amazing these include hippos which are seen on the shores of the lake.

The boat cruise in Lake Mburo national park has got two sessions that is the morning session that starts at 9:00am and the afternoon which starts at 2:00pm and each session takes 2 to 3 hours ride. During the boat ride which sets off at Rwonyo jetty landing site daily and you will be accompanied with an experienced park guide who will give more information about the lake as well as help in spotting different animals such as hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, enjoy scenic views, buffaloes, giraffes, waterbucks among others as they are drinking water along the shores. While on the boat cruise, you will be able to view water birds such as kingfishers, fish eagles, egrets, herons, hornbills, and cormorants among others as well as fishermen who will be preparing their fishing gears for nights fishing.

A boat cruise in Lake Mburo national park costs 30 USD per person for foreign nonresidents, 25 USD per person for foreign residents, 30,000 UGX per person for east African citizens, 450,000 UGX for school children per group and 15,000 UGX for school group per person.

It can be done all year throughout but the best time is the dry season in the months of June, July, august, September, December, January and February because this period there is little or no rainfall within the park. Therefore animals can gather around the water bodies to drink water which gives you an opportunity to view a number of animals clearly and take amazing pictures as well.

OTHER ACTIVITIES IN LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Besides the boat cruise, Lake Mburo national park offers other amazing and interesting activities that tourists can engage into while on a Uganda safari.
