8 days Mount Elgon hiking safari takes you Mount Elgon national park which has the largest volcanic base. Mount Elgon is found on the Uganda-Kenya border and its one of the oldest and largest solitary volcanic mountain in east Africa.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER TO MBALE
Early in the morning, you will be picked by the safari guide who will brief you about the Uganda Hiking safari. After the briefing you will embark on the journey to mbale. You will have a stopover in jinja as you visit the source of the Nile with enroute lunch. After you will drive up to mbale where you will check into the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; HIKE TO SASA RIVER CAMP
In the morning, you will have breakfast and start on the hike to sasa river camp. Via sasa trail and descend via piswa trail. From budadiri you may take on the trail which leads to sasa river camp where you will camp, have dinner and a night stay.
DAY 3; SASA RIVER CAMP – MUDE CAVE
You will wake up early and have breakfast then climb from sasa river camp to sasa patrol hut which takes two hours. From sasa patrol hut you will climb to mude cave campsite. To the experienced climbers you may leave mude cave and continue climbing up to Jackson’s summit.
DAY 4; MUDE CAVE – WAGAGAI PEAK
Early in the morning after having breakfast, you will hike from mude to wagagai peak and this takes 4 to 5 hours. And after reaching you will rest for some time and return to mude cave for a night stay.
DAY 5; MUDE CAVE – HUNTERS CAVE CAMP
In the morning, you will have breakfast and descend from mude cave to the caldera as well as the hot springs which takes 4 hours. You will camp at the caldera and later proceed to hunters cave where you will have dinner and a night stay.
DAY 6; HUNTERS CAVE CAMP – TATUM CAVE
In the morning after having breakfast, you will descend from hunters cave to Tatum cave where you will continue to explore the Tatum cave which has the ancient cave painting and after have dinner as well as a night stay.
DAY 7; TATUM CAVE – SIPI CAVES
After having breakfast, you will descend from Tatum cave camp to the parks headquarters and head to sipi falls where you enjoy the 50 meters high falls. After you will head to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 8; TRANSFER BACK TO KAMPALA
After the morning breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on the journey to Kampala. You will have a stopover at jinja for lunch and spend some time at the source of the Nile. After you will proceed to Kampala and on arrival, you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home or any place of convenience as advised.
